How the Technology of Geographical
Information Systems (GIS) Can Be Used On A Local Basis
Wednesday, June 9th
The program will feature Gerry Washington, who will speak
on "How the
Technology of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Can Be Used On A
Local Basis".
Cell Tower Sitting, Visual Impact Analysis of a Proposed Housing Development
and Water Supply Protection are topics that will be used to demonstrate
the capability of the GIS Technology. Mr. Washington will also present
a power point presentation of "A Cell Tower Plan for the Town of
Woodstock". The subject
of cell towers in Woodstock has become a major issue given the recent
proposed
rezoning to allow cell towers in R-8 zones and the possible environmental
impacts such change in the zoning law may cause.
Gerry Washington, the guest speaker, was an IBM executive for more than
30 years at the Lake Katrine campus. Mr. Washington is an engineer who
has been active in preserving the water supply in Woodstock as well as
in other local environmental issues.
There will be opportunity for networking, questions and answers after
the presentation, and light snacks will be served.
Admission is free for members of Hudson Valley Technology and Commerce;
$5 for non members. Admission is waived
