Intellectual PropertyLilling & Lilling P.C., an intellectual property law firm and member of Hudson Valley Technology and Commerce, will be offering the first of the three free seminars on the subject of "Ownership of Intellectual Property". Bruce E. Lilling, Esq. and Jacqueline Zion, Esq. will be speaking. Included in the seminar will be discussions of the independent contractor situation and who owns software, advertising and other materials created by a non-employee and what does a company do to secure ownership. Ownership of inventions and patents will be discussed, as well. Other issues which will be dealt with in future seminars are trade secrets, including what is a "trade secret" and what steps a company must take to protect them, and trademarks, including protection of trademark, names and domain names. In the latter, particular attention will be given to searching and importance of registration, and the consequences of failing to search and/or register. These are issues of importance to companies which seek to understand the significance and value of the intellectual property they own and how to protect it.
